The Kinect for Windows SDK v2.0 for Xbox One Kinect uses the same body tracking algorithms internally as the SDK v1.8 for Xbox 360 Kinect. It had different training data, but the same limitations were imposed on it for performance reasons. Every pose that the Xbox 360 Kinect cannot do, the Xbox One Kinect cannot either.
If you want the Kinect to turn on all your devices (tv, cable, xbox, ps4) along with the X1 make sure to turn on that option in settings>tv/guide. Do not forget to add your devices to the xbox IR blaster under TV so the Kinect can control said devices. For the Kinect to wake all devices with "xbox on" make sure "instant on" setting is selected.
The Kinect does work as well, I've used it before on my Xbox One. Issue #1. When plugged into a USB 3.0 port as instructed my computer does not recognize anything has been plugged in. Not even that it's an unknown device, it's just not there. No sound, no notification, nothin. The light on the adapter turns on as well, but not the Kinect itself.

Kinect v2 for Windows (Xbox one version + adapter) costs 250$; Kinect v1 is not produced anymore, but you can buy a refurbished version (Xbox 360 version + adapter) for $70 on Amazon. What these sensors seem to share is a common destiny : Microsoft has discontinued the Kinect project , abandoning it to follow its new cool project: HoloLens
Kinect 2.0 is the version that came with the Xbox One. I don't think the original Kinect works with the Xbox One though, that is only compatible with the 360. Edit: Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Six years ago, Microsoft pumped out some interesting Kinect-exclusive Xbox 360 games. But one thing held these games back: clunky Kinect controls. and you can still use the Kinect if that's
